Retire in style, thrive with support!

At Settlers Lifestyle Villages, we are committed to supporting our residents in every aspect of their lives. We understand that life can be unpredictable and that people need different kinds of support to thrive. To meet these varied needs, we offer a wide range of services. We offer assistance with medical and physical needs, emotional support, gardening, housekeeping, and maintenance services.

We take pride in being a vibrant and inclusive community where everyone feels welcome and valued. Our residents can enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle, with the peace of mind that comes with having a strong support system.

Nursing Support 24/7

We understand the peace of mind in knowing a nurse is available at any hour of the day or night if needed. Our apartments feature multiple call buttons, and our nurses are equipped and trained to provide high-quality care at a moment’s notice. As a priority, we ensure that our residents are able to get the support they need, whenever they need it.

In addition, residents of Settlers Lifestyle Village have preferential access to private hospital care at Fairview Care. Knowing that a higher level of care is available if needed is reassuring.

We believe that peace of mind is of the utmost importance, and we strive to uphold that by offering our residents the security of knowing they have trusted support close at hand.

“Four years ago my husband had a stroke. This is another thing that coming in here gives us – the opportunity for nursing, and you’ve got the alarms if anything happens”.

“We have 5 call buttons in our apartment. I pushed one by mistake once and the nurse was up in seconds!”

Emotional and well-being support

But our nurses are more than just medical professionals. They are compassionate individuals who truly care about our residents and are willing to take the time to listen and support them.

We believe that providing emotional support is just as important as providing medical care. Whether it’s a quick check-in during a shift or a longer conversation during a tough time, our nurses want to make sure our residents live their best lives.

With on-site support available around the clock, our residents can take comfort in knowing that they have a dedicated team of caring professionals who are always there for them.

Support from a caring community of residents

A strong, happy community depends on support. A thriving community is one where residents actively assist each other, lending a helping hand whenever needed. Whether it’s a shoulder to cry on during tough times or simply sharing resources to help improve someone’s quality of life, the beauty of residents supporting each other creates a sense of closeness and belonging that is unparalleled.

Here’s how some residents describe their supportive community:

“There is a well-being group here. You can say ‘I’m lonely’, or someone could point to a person and say – ‘that person needs help’ and they will take you out for coffee”.

“…and you have the same support for dementia. If your husband has dementia you say ‘I can’t cope with my husband all the time’, and people take him out for an hour. And of course, you’ve got the nurse. There is a lot of care here – a lot of caring people”.

“If someone gets Covid everyone cares and drops things off to people. It’s residents in the well-being group. They’ll drive you to the hospital for an appointment which is a huge thing for me because there are a lot of people who can’t drive or won’t”.

Support with everyday living

Sometimes, it’s an accumulation of small daily chores that can add up to a big hassle. This is especially true if you aren’t feeling well, or dealing with a stressful life event or health issue. Being able to get help when you need it can be a great relief. So what kind of support do you have access to in our supportive village? Quite a lot. Our staff can assist you with pretty much everything you need on a day-to-day basis.

Support with house-keeping

Residents can easily request regular or one-time cleanings. We have our own housekeeping team on-site to take care of all cleaning. It costs just $35 per hour which is typically more than enough time to clean an apartment. As we get older, housekeeping routines can be harder to keep up with, so knowing there is help on site is a relief. People who need temporary help due to illness or accidents love this service.

Support with maintenance

A full-time Handyman is on staff to manage maintenance tasks for residents. Requests can be made through reception. It’s a relief to know someone will be around soon to perform a variety of services such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, replacing tap washers, repairing door knobs and hinges, and checking appliances.

“Before I moved in here I saw decks cracking, fences ready to come down, the roof was starting to show signs of wear and tear, and the garden was starting to overgrow. So to come in here and just be with my wife, instead of having to do chores, I feel a lot better”.

“There’s no maintenance – it’s all done for you. All the gardens are done for you. To me it’s more like a resort”.

Support with meals

With a restaurant and cafe on site, residents have access to great value, nutritious meals prepared by an experienced chef.

Support with transport

Our community has a resident-led transportation service. Whether you need to go shopping, attend a medical appointment, or go anywhere else, just ask. The group always arranges day trips for special outings, including mystery trips.

“I’m on the bus driving list. I’ve become a bus driver now. I’ve done my licence. They’re always going off somewhere on trips. We think when we’re older we’ll go on the bus trips, but we’re the young-old”.

Support for extended family

Our community is designed to make it easy to entertain extended family and to have grandchildren come and stay. There is a heated pool, BBQ patio and outdoor area, restaurant and cafe.

“The pool is a great draw for the kids. We take the grandchildren into the pool – they love it”.

“Little Cam, he’s 6 now, he said he loves coming here and he has a meat pie each time”.

Support for men

Our village has a strong culture of brotherhood. There’s also a purpose-built bloke’s shed with highly gifted craftsmen on hand to help with building, crafting, and tinkering.
Residents understand that men may have a harder time adjusting to village life, so they go out of their way to offer support. Our village has a unique way to check in with each other and welcome new members via a resident-led well-being group.

“So many blokes came in with their wives and said they didn’t want to come but are glad they are now”.

“There is even a get-together for men, they bring us together for a meeting once a week. No one is isolated . . . You live longer if you aren’t”.

Support for women

The bond of ‘sisterhood’ is an important and special one shared by many women throughout life. The bond transcends genetics, culture, and age and connects women in a way that cannot be explained. Such a bond continues in our village. Checking in with each other, taking strolls together, sharing coffee or a glass of wine, and pursuing common interests are all ways that women support one another here. Of course, women love the convenience of an onsite salon, which is open to men as well!

Support for physical fitness

Vitality is one of the five key strengths most strongly associated with happiness and well-being. Because we know how important it is to feel vibrant, we offer a variety of activities. Our facilities include a gym, heated pool, petanque, and bowls. We also have resident-led groups like darts, table tennis, tai chi, ‘walk n talk’ and table tennis.

“Fitter – we are definitely fitter”.

When we say we provide a supportive community, we really mean it. They aren’t empty words. We have carefully thought through what it means to provide support at all levels – physical, emotional and mental and we go to great pains to deliver this to each and every one of our residents because we care. Take the first step towards a supported and fulfilling lifestyle.
